We operate on an Open Access Schedule every day.

This means that you may come to the Media Center at any time during the school day as long as you have your teacher's permission to do so. Please bring your color-coded pass with you.

Weekly Storytimes: Kindergarten and 1st grade classes: 30 minutes each week.

Bi-weekly book checkin and checkout:
2nd grade classes: 30 minutes 3rd grade classes: 20-30 minutes 4th grade classes: 20 minutes (varies with teacher) 5th grade classes: All independent users |

Each student has his/her own color-coded library card with bar code. They are kept in wooden boxes on the curculation desk and are marked with their teacher's name. Students in 2nd-5th grade are expected to find their own cards and to check out independently so that they learn to become independent users of the resources in the Brennen Media Center.

Checkout policy:
Kindergarten and 1st grade students check out 1 book each week. (After winter break, all 1st graders who have proved to be "good library users" are allowed to check out 2 books.)
2nd graders check out 2 books.
3rd-5th graders check out 3 books. Back issue magazines are available for checkout by 3rd-5th graders in place of 1 book.
No student may check out a book if he/she has an overdue book. Fiction and non-fiction books are checked out for 2 weeks and may be renewed at any time before they are overdue. All Early Reader books (picture books for young children) are checked out for 1 week.
All books are returned prior to winter break and at the end of the school year.
